A man toiled on a burning road

This poem describes two different kind of people, which we all know. The restless career-type person, never leaving the straight fast road to success and on the other side a lazy person, who prefers to to enjoy the bright sides of life and not caring for success, or better what society is calling „successful“. While the poem is drawing a stark contrast in real life all humans have both stereotypes inside and have to find a balance between them. One will find happiness in restless work, the other one might prefer lying in the sun on a beautiful beach.

The aggressive anger of the first person let me choose a fast tempo with some mean Metal-riffs. Looking at the style I observe parallels to Power-Metal in the tradition of bands like Metal Church, fast tempo, high vocals, melodic. In fact I am inspired by Giacomo’s voice to go in this direction, while future songs of the new album will also come back to a more abstract style like on „Black riders part 1“.

A man toiled on a burning road,
Never resting.
Once he saw a fat, stupid ass
Grinning at him from a green place.
The man cried out in rage,
"Ah! Do not deride me, fool!
I know you --
All day stuffing your belly,
Burying your heart
In grass and tender sprouts:
It will not suffice you."
But the ass only grinned at him from the green place.
